The Marine Officer

Marine officers are more than simply leaders; they are leaders of Marines — confident, determined decision makers that command the respect of others. Marine Corps Officers are directly responsible for the welfare and performance of the men and women they command.

Marine officers undergo intense training designed to strengthen both mind and body. As a Marine officer, you'll learn management and leadership skills from what Inc. Magazine calls "one of the finest corporate leadership schools in the world." Bottom line: As a United States Marine Corps Officer, you'll not only understand your capabilities, you'll exceed them.

As an officer of Marines, you will alternate between command of combatant units and staff positions. You will begin as a Platoon Commander, Vehicle Commander, Aviator, etc. After a staff tour in a recruiting, training instructoral, command staff, or administrative position, you will return to the combatant forces. Keep in mind that your staff tour may not always be in your MOS. This cycle will repeat all through your career in the Corps.
